Springfield's
Community Olympic Program on Growth Track
The
Springfield Missouri Community Olympic Development Program (CODP)
will develop and operate community based Olympic sports programs
in cooperation with the community organizations, our community
sponsors, the United States Olympic Committee, and designated
national governing bodies. This program will provide young athletes
in the region access to the best facilities, programs, coaches,
and competition to enhance their ability to compete in Olympic
sports.
Within
five years we will become a leading force in our region for:
- promoting
Olympic sports,
- identifying
and supporting our elite athletes in their efforts to join
our national Olympic teams,
- hosting
competitive events for our participating national governing
bodies, and
- advancing
the national Community Olympic Development Program.
Within
seven years, Springfield's participation in the CODP program will
expand from the initial two national governing bodies (USA Weightlifting
and USA Tennis) to seven national governing bodies.
Sponsors
and donors, as well as volunteers to assist at events, are needed.
To become a part of this community effort, contact contact Linda
Dollar at the CODP office, 417-820-4624.
