About WIN
Women's
Intersport Network (WIN) is a not-for-profit corporation organized
in 2000. Its mission is to recognize and support girls and women's
amateur and professional sports competition and their participants
in the Greater Springfield Metropolitan area.
Specifically
WIN for Springfield's major objectives are to develop a better
awareness of girls and women's sports by building networks and
providing resources, advocating the lifetime value of sports and
fitness for girls and women, and promoting sporting opportunities
in the Ozarks.
Activities
of WIN will enhance public awareness of women in sports, including
opportunities and barriers to their participation and achievement
of their goals.
WIN
will solicit both amateur and professional sporting events to
be held in the Springfield area. It will develop and manage special
events for girls and women at all levels of competition.
Through
grant writing and fund raising, WIN wishes to create an evolving
pool of resources to support individuals and teams as they prepare
for and succeed in their respective sports.
WIN
believes recognition and honor for female athletes is an important
part of success, accomplishment, and high self-esteem.
Through
publicity, special events, awards, and newsletters, WIN wants
the Ozarks to have ample opportuniity to be proud of and reward
women and girls in sports.
