October 1, 2004

Went around the room and introduced ourselves.

Reports:

Team USA
- WSGT – Leslie Peck stated that we had $1,035 in the account
for this event. $17,000 was raised for BCFO. There were 30 volunteers
with most coming from WIN.
- Soccer Tournament and Price Cutters Golf Tournament –
Thanks to all who volunteered their time.
- Newsletter – Let Sylvia Lee know if you have anything
to put in newsletter. Also need to make sure we have an updated
list with correct addresses and email addresses if available.
- Web Page – www.springfieldwin.org - Tom Adams has set
up our new web page.
- Discussed having colored WIN shirts – Lavender was suggested.
- CODP – Linda Dollar in charge of CODP. Boys and Girls
Weightlifting and Tennis. Weightlifting Camp – 6 kids signed
up. There will be an article in WIN Newsletter and News-Leader.
Next two sports will be Volleyball and Ice Hockey. Lori Endicott-Vandersnick
will be coming on board as Volleyball instructor.
- Springfield has been selected to be one of the 15 cities to
host professional softball teams. We will be hosting 100 amateur
softball teams for girls. There are Pro teams coming to play a
tournament with 8 Olympians already signed up for July 4 weekend
– our weekend to shine.

Fall Sports Schedules were handed out for Drury, SMSU, and Evangel.
·
Judy Duerkop, Historian, will be making a list of items we have
collected for the History Case. If you have any material or items
that you might want to put in History case, let Judy know.
·
Sponsorship – Drury Women’s University Golf Team is
$200 short of getting money for Golf workout routine. Marilyn
moved that we donate $200 to Drury Golf Team. Judy Duerkop 2nd.
Motion Carried. Jodie Adams will send check to Park Board.

WIN sponsored Bike Ride to be held September 25, 2004 at Galloway
Creek Greenway. If you are interested let Melita Van Winkle know
after meeting and we will take down names and get back with you.

Last year WIN organized a trip to Michigan to watch University
of Michigan to see Cheryl Burnett. If you are interested in a
trip again this year, let Reba know.

May Meeting Minutes and updated By-Laws were voted on and accepted.
·
Discussed the new Hammons Sports Arena. WIN will send a letter
to Mr. Hammons in support of a12,000-seat stadium. WIN will also
write another letter to Planning.
Next
meeting will be scheduled for November 2004.
