Meeting Minutes
May 30, 2006
WSGT Auction and Tournament (August 13-14) – Need Auction Items for the BCFO Auction. Looking for volunteers for the auction and tournament. The auction will be held at the Clarion. Auction items need to be taken to Smith-Barney. Pink flags can be bought for $10 in memory or in honor of someone. They will be listed in the program, as well as the one that is honoring the person. Meeting on Thursday to decide on the players. The main sponsor of the event is McDonalds. May 19-June 23, 2006, when you buy a McDonalds salad, McDonalds will donate 50cents to BCFO.
Free Kids Clinic on Monday morning, August 14. The clinicwill be an hour long. Clinic Liaison will be Lisa Tinkler with Bob Belote helping out. There will be giveaways.
- Reception Wendy Culbertson took her Courage Award with her to apply for Crowder College. She was really honored to receive this award. The Reception Committee recommends we stay with the reception instead of a full- blown banquet. It is less expensive and a shorter program. Susan Provance and Maria Johnston will be on the Reception Committee for next year.
- Springfield Lasers Table WIN will again have a table set up at the home matches of the Springfield Lasers Tennis Team with information about WIN and the events that will be coming up. We will need two members at each match. The dates are July 6, 8, 10, 13, 14, 21, and 26.
- Fly Fishing Clinic scheduled for June 24 is full.
- CODP – Weightlifting, Tennis, Volleyball. Held two boys volleyball clinics. Have 42 girls signed up for Volleyball training. They will be training all summer.
Jodie Adams and Jeff Cumley made a trip the Olympic Training Center for Hockey and figure skating.
National Weightlifting Tournament for 2007 school age kids to be held in July at the Clarion. Will need help with this event.
- Ladies Golf Outing – Lisa Tinkler will be out at Oscar Bloom to give help getting us on the course. Need more ladies playing golf. This will be held on Thursday evenings 6-6:30 p.m.
- Volleyball WIN Night – No date set yet but will be doing another sponsorship for a night of volleyball. There are 10 seats reserved for WIN members. Contact Reba if you would like to take advantage of these seats.
- Softball BCFO Tournament – MSU hosted this event. Proceeds went to BCFO. WIN for Springfield helped at the ticket gate and other areas. Had tailgate party and opened it up to the public to buy food with proceeds given to BCFO.
- Price Cutters Championship scheduled for July 20-23. The Park Board/Lasers/Ice Park sponsors a hole. Help will be needed to have volunteers at the hole during the tournament.
- WIN Lake Day scheduled for Saturday, August 5. Contact Reba for more information.
- Bike Ride – ride early in the morning then go to Dayna’s for breakfast. Date and time has not been determined.
- Court Talk/Chalk Talk at 12:30 – coaches’ talk about the week before. WIN for Springfield gave two $100 scholarships this year, one to Central High School and one to Catholic High School. High School coaches get professional development training for attending Chalk Talk.
- High School Girls Coaches Conference Saturday, July 29 at Drury from 8 a.m-9 p.m. Professional Skills Training at all skills level. Early Bird by June 15 $99 after June 15 $125. Register at www.WinStarFoundation.org
- Softball Locker – MSU –softball and volleyball now have their own locker rooms. Space for trophies to be displayed. The softball eam wants to recognize Kay Hunter and the AIAW National Championship team with a locker in the softball locker room. Donations can be made to the MSU Foundation and send to Linda Dollar or Beth Perine at MSU so they go into the proper fund.
- Women’s Alliance – Group of Women’s Associations meet once a month. $35/year next two years then $50/year. Need to get membership list for possible mentors to be shadowed by young professionals. Let Reba know if you are interested.
- Outdoor Adventure Fair – Andy Dalton shooting range and education center. June 17 from 8-4. Free to families that have individuals with disabilities. Call Patty Smith at the Southwest Center for Independent Living for more information and to volunteer. 886-1188
- Soccer Tournament – June 10-15 need help June 8-13. Over 200 teams coming to Springfield for this event. Volunteers are needed. Call Katie Ellsworth at 862-3211 and tell her you are from WIN.
- Sports Hall of Fames – Missouri Sports Hall of Fame – Jodie Adams is on the Board and Springfield Hall of Fame Kim Reser is on the Board. Kristen Folkl was recognized at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame this year which was one of the WIN nominees. We would like to nominate more women this year. If you have any suggestions, get the names and phone numbers or emails to Reba.
- Women’s Bassmasters Tournament – September 14-16 at Bull Shoals Lake. Need to support this tournament.
Have extra books “She Can Coach” by Cecile Reynaud for $20/each. If you would like to purchase one of these books contact Linda Dollar.
- Discussed having an annual meeting in February. Date has not been decided. Trying to get more members to the meetings.
