Q: Why We Strut?
This event is held in honor of Bee Payne-Stewart, a vibrant and passionate community leader, who was a champion for women in leadership and sports. Bee was a founding member of the local League of Women Voters and the first female chairman of the Springfield Park Board. She was instrumental in the formation of the Family Violence Center (now known as Harmony House) and was a regular fixture at numerous athletic events in the community. Since her death in 2005, her spirit lives on through this event.
Q: Who benefits?
Strut proceeds benefit youth athletic scholarship at the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and Women’s Intersports Network, as well as women’s athletic programs at Drury, Evangel and Missouri State Universities.
